TO-DAY'S EDITION. MOTORING IN MANAWATU. THE MELBOURNE CUP. A wide range of very interesting pictorial I subjects is published in to-day's issue of the Auckland*WEtJii.Y News. Motoring in the Taranaki and Maajawatu districts forma the subject of a pleasing set of ( views, which occupy a double-page of the paper, while, the frontispiece contains j many excellent studies of bird and animal 'life a*, the Wellington "Zoo." Three important stages of tie recently-run Melbourne Cup are also reproduced, and a photograph of Artilleryman, the horse which won the great race in record time, also appears. A whole page is occupied by the portraits oi candidates seeking Parliamentary honours,, and a striking | cartoon, entitled, " The Strange Political I Duel m-Roskill," is bound to attract more than passing attention. Views of the prosperous town of Blenheim make a rerv interesting page, and the mishap to the co.lier Karon, which sank last week at the Dunedin Wharf, is well illustrated Yachting at Napier, the return of the victor of Palestine, General Allenby, to Eneland, and many other interesting pictorial subjects, enhance the general attractiveness of the publication. | ' ■
