LITTLE BOY INJURED.
COLLIDES WITH AMBULANCE.
SINGULAR CIRCUMSTANCES.
A boy, 8£ years of age, named Barney Daniel, son of Captain J. Daniel, of New North Road, Grey Lynn, was injured in a most singular manner on Saturday afternoon. The public hospital ambulance was called to Avondale racecourse, and the driver states that while passing along Eden Terrace, bringing two patients back to the hospital, the boy Daniel ran out in front of the vehicle. Fearing an accident, the driver turned the ambulance quickly, and so sharp was the angle, that the front axle of the car was broken. liven then the driver's attempt to save the boy was unsuccessful, and he was caught by an angle of the vehicle and injured internally. . After a slight delay another car was procured, and the ambulance was taken back to the hospital. The injured boy was operated upon at once, and his condition last evening was stated to be satisfactory.
