THE TROUBLE AT NELSON. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.} NELSON. Friday. THe trouble at the Tarakohe Cement Works is still unsettled. At a conference between the directors of the com-" pany and representatives of the Federation of Labour, the former submitted an offer to increase the pay for waterside work from Is 6d an hour ordinary- and Is lOd overtime to Is lOd and 2s 9d respectively, payment for cement work to be on the same basis as the Northern Cement Unions* Award. The offer was rejected by a mass meeting yesterdav. A further conference will be held at Wellington, and there are hopes of a ratlsfactory settlement. Meanwhile the works remain idle.
