FIRST SALE IN OPEN MARKET. NEARLY £5 AN OUNCE. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 8 p.m.) LONDON. Sept. 17. The first sale of South African refined gold in the open market since the war was held to-day. There was a good dema-nd for trad© purposes. The gold offered realised £4 18s 6d an ounce, compared with the official price of £3 17s 9d for standard gold, which is equivalent to £4 4s lOd for fine gold.
