INTENTIONS OF MERCHANTS. "A. and N.Z. LONDON. Aug. 7. The Australian Merchants' Association has informed the Commonwealth Line that its members are not prepared to consider giving support to the Jane until the claims of merchants for damage and loss are fairly met. The association is ascertaining the opinion of the business community generally in Australia and New Zealand regarding the entry of the Commonwealth Government into trading as shipowners as against private enterprise.
