NEW ELECTORAL BOLLS.

COMPLETION LIKELY TO-DAY. THE EOSEILL DISTRICT. EDEN NOW LARGELY BUBAL. The preparation of the new electoral rolls, which for some months past has been occupying the attention of Mr. J. Hay, chief electoral officer for the district, and the various electoral registrars, is expected to be completed to-day. The alteration of the boundaries of every electoral district for the next general election has made the work very heavy, while the formation of two new electoral areas, Rosfeill and Rotorua, constituted in the Auckland provincial district since the last election, has also entailed a great deal of extra worlsu, - Roskiil will have between Iu.ODO and 12,000 electors on its main toll, drawn from the most populous part of the old Eden electorate, with contributions also from Grey Lynn, Manukas, and Parnell.

The preparation of the supplementary rolls will commence next week, these being kept open until the statutory closing time shortly before the election. Maps for the benefit of those who are not sure as to their new electoral locality will be available at the central electoral, bureau in the Customs Buildings, and here also will be available for inspection the whole of the new electoral rolls of the Dominion as sorn as they are printed. At the central bureau will be . situated the offices of the Eden an,? Auckland East and West registrars, while the offices of the remaining city and suburban registrars will b» as follows: —Auckland Central: Post Office, Shortland Street; Grey Lynn : First floor, Kbbhj) Buildings, Queen Street; Parnell : Room 215, Victoria Arcade, Queen Street Roskiil: Porter's Buildings, Upper Symonds Street; Manakau: Queen Street, Onehunga; Waitemata : Post Office, Devonport. The new main rolls so far available contain the following numbers, compared with the numbers on the old rolls >— New Roll. Old 8011. Auckland Central ~ 11,976 11.481 £<**n , 7.884 15,250 Roskill .. .. 10,567 — Ot«r Lynn. . . .. 9,443 13,468 Raglan . . .. 6.588 '

The figures for Auckland East and West are approximately the same on the new as on the old rolls. Eden has contributed largely to the new electoral district of Roskill, the main roll of which has over 40 per cent, more names on it than the new Eden roll. Eden, in fact, becomes largely a rural district, and now extends to the Kaipara Heads, embracing the whole width of the Peninsula in the northern end.
