STRANDING OF KOWHAI.
ASSESSORS FOR INQUIRY. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION-.] WELLINGTON. Sunday. Captains W. Manning and F. Black have been appointed nautical assessors in connection with the inquiry into the stranding of the steamer Kowhai, which opens to-morrow.
The coastal steamer Eowhai went ashore five miles east of Farewell Spit, during a fog, at an early hour on the morning of June 9, on a voyage from Onehunga to Westport. She was refloated early on tha morning of July 15, after several attempts had been made to get her off, and pro-» ceeded to Nelson under her own steam.
