PRIMATE'S RETIREMENT.
0, — THE DUNEDIN BISHOPRIC. RESIGNATION FROM DECEMBER. [BY TELEGBAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] DUNEraN, Saturday. It is understood that the Primate, Bishop Nevill, has resigned the See of Dunedin, to take effect from December 31 next. Dr. S. T. Nevill has been Bishop of Dunedin for 48 years, and is the senior bishop of the Anglican episcopate throughout the world. He was bom in. Nottingham in 1837, and was educated alt St. Aidan's. He became a deacon in 1860, and was ordained in 1861. Later he studied at Magdalene College, Cambridge, where, in 3865, he secured th© Bachelor of Arts decree,' and in 1868 the degree of Master of Arts. In 1871 he was elected Bishop of Dunedin, and in the same year received the degree of doctor of divinity. He was elected Primate of New Zealand in 1804.
