FIRE AT KINGSLAND.
DWELLINGHOUSE DAMAGED. EFFECTIVE BRIGADE WORK. A house in Reimers Avenue, Kingsland, owned and occupied by Mr. O. Morgan, was damaged by fire on Saturday afternoon. The owner was working in the garden shortly before two o'clock when he noticed flames issuing from the window of a room towards the rear of the house. The fire was also noticed by the man on duty at the Mount Albert Fire Brigade Station, and the brigade was turned out before the alarm was received from outside. The outbreak was quickly suppressed before any. extensive damage was done, one room being gutted and part of the bathroom, damaged. While the brigade was at work a number of footballers from Eden Park removed practically the whole of the furniture to safety. The damage to the building is estimated at about £200. The house was insured in the State Fire Office for £260, and the furniture in the Commercial Union Office for £190.
