SERIOUS POSITION ARISES.
DEPUTATION TO WELLINGTON

NAPIER, Wednesday.
The representatives from the Wairoa district, who are proceeding to Welling ton in connection wi.h the Wairoa Hitbour arrangements, arrived in Napier by motor-car from Wairoa yesterday. The bar has been closed for several weeks with no hope of opening. All supplies have come via Waikokopu, 23 miles, by a read which is now impassable owing to wet weather. For five weeks there were no supplies landed at all. The freezing works are. full wth 120,000 carcases of sheep and 100 of cattle. The deputation wants the immediate commencement of a railway from Waikokopu to Wairoa. They will go to Wellington to-morrcw.
