WELLINGTON. Wednesday.
The shortage of coal was referred to hefore the Industries Committee to-d»v br Mr. H. J. W. Brow, Secretary for Mines. He said the present shortage was due to lack' of miners. Every mining company in New Zealand was short of miners* The number of men engaged in mining ras decreasing and it was difficult to see how more could be done to attract men to th» mines, but probably something would hava to be done.
