BODY FOUND IN HARBOUR
I DEATH OF A WIDOWER. I ADJOURNMENT OF INQUEST. j The body of a man was seen floating in j the harbour off Mechanics' Bay at 6.45 a.m. yesterday by Mr. W. Jones, who inI formed tho police. Tho body was removed I to the mortuary where it was identified as that of Stephsn John Voale, 56, a I widower, who resided with his brother j in Adelaide Street, Freeman's Bay. [ An inquest was opened before Mr. Wilson, S.M., yesterday afternoon, when evidence as to the finding of the body was | given. Deceased, who was a labourer and , sometimes worked for the Northern Company, was last seen by his brother at 7 a.m. on Wednesday. He did not go home i to his tea, but. as he often made trips mi coastal vessel*, his absence did not cauea his brother any concern. Deceased \\a>; seen alive the evening before his bodv wsia found, j Medical examination of tie body dis- ; closed bruises ou the face, aram, an.l ! knees, as though the body had rolled along a stony surface, and it "is presumed that Veale fell over the breastwork into the harbour and bruised himself in doing so. The inquest was adjourned in order to hear the evidence of the absent witness ' who last saw the deceased.
