TRAVELLERS INCONVENIENCED.
Sir,—ln these days when we hear so much of efficiency, I cannot but wonder that the people of Auckland submit without complaint to an example of inefficiency to be seen at the local railway station. I arrived in Auckland by the second Wellington express on Sunday morning. Wishing to leave come of my luggage at the station, I took it to the "left luggage" counter, but had t« wait there fej more than a quarter of an hour before receiving any attention. For most of this time there was only one attendant to receive and give out luggage, and it was not possible for him to give prompt attention to the number of people waiting. That people, after a long and tiring journey, should have had thus to wait for a service for which they were prepared to pay, surely reflects very discreditably on the management. I have been told that this is a not unusual condition of affairs in that department of the railway station, and for tho sake of fellow travellers I make this protest. A Visitor-
