TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHT.

Unconfirmed reports say that three United States naval seaplanes will start from Rockaway, near Brooklyn, on a trans-Atlantic flight. The first stop will be made at Newfoundland for the replenishment of fuel. ,

The Washington correspondent of the New York Times is informed that the proposed flight will start in May. Probably two naval airplanes will leave Newfoundland simultaneously some time during May for the Azores, thence to the west coast of Portugal. A naval mission has been touring the Newfoundland coast in order to determine the best starting point. PACIFIC TO ATLANTIC. HOURLY AVERAGE 137 MILES. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Rccd. 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK. April 19. Major T. C. M. Cauley flew from San Diego, California, to Jacksonville, Florida, a distance of 5500 miles, in 44£ hours. The average speed was 137 miles an hour. PRIVATE ENTERPRISE. GOVERNMENT'S INTENTIONS. A. and N.Z. LONDON. April 18. The Air Ministry has announced that the Government in the early stages will permit private enterprise to operate on the easier of the great air routes, the State touching the more difficult only. Nothing has been decided regarding the CairoIndia route, in connection with which strategic considerations exist.
