EXTENSION OF SYSTEM.

Australian and N.Z. Cable Association (Reed. 5.5 p.m.) WASHINGTON. April 17.

United States officials have received information giving the plans adopted by Britain for the reform and extension of the British Consular service, which will include an annual expenditure of £1,000,000 for Consuls and £250,000 for commercial attaches in co-operation with the extended Consular service.

A world-wide system of trade commissioners will be established by British trade associations, one of which represents 20,000 firms with a combined capital of £4,000,000,000. One commissioner has already been stationed in Greece to organise trade throughout the Near East. Others are now stationed in Madrid, Servia and Holland. One commissioner will tour South Africa.
