LOVERS' SURPRISE MEETING
An Italian soldier, Antonio Spinelli, who was blinded and lost his speech in the battle of the Careo plateau two years ago, recovered his sight and hearing as a result of accidentally meeting his sweetheart in a street of the Italian section of New York.
Margherita de Luria, his sweetheart, hearing of Antonio's discharge from the army, came from San Francisco to New York to find him. On the day after her arrival, on her way to church, she met her lover in the street. " Antonio ! " she cried with jov. " Margherita 1 " exclaimed the blind soldier, who, as he raised his bend, said in a trembling voice, "I see! I see." Tho Bhock of joy had restored sight and speech.
