PORT FOR CHRISTCHURCH.
SUMNER ESTUARY SCHEME. [BY TELEGRAPH-.— ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday. The question of a port for Christchurch. was considered at a public meeting this evening, and the following motion was carried:—" That this meeting pledges* itself to assist tho Port of Christchurch, League in its determination to create art open deep-water seaport in the Sumner estuary, and will support only those candidates in the forthcoming municipal and Harbour Board elections whq definitely advocate this scheme."
