AUSTRALIAN EPIDEMIC.
INCREASE NOTED IN SYDNEY. 97 CASES IN PAST WEEK. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, Mar. 16. The influenza, apparently assisted by the cool spell, continues to increase. The cases in New South Wales for the past week numbered 97, compared with 64 in the previous week. Id support of the value of inoculation, it is statod that two well-known doctors conducting bacteriological work used their own blood with the object of isolating influenza germs. Both had been inoculated, and germs introduced into their blood invariably died. They then secured the blood of a person who had not been inoculated, in which the germs flourished.
A Melbourne doctor states that he has seen no penumonia in cases infected immediately after the first inoculation. Another states that he had not seen a bad case in a previously inoculated person. -ON WANE IN MELBOURNE. SIX DEATHS ON SATURDAY. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.
