MAMMOTH NAVAL AIRSHIP. TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHT. Australian and N.Z. Cablo Association. fJßecd. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Mar. 15. The Admiralty's mammoth airship R 34, built on the Clydcside by Beardmores, is to undergo a trial flight with a crew of 30. If the trials prove successful an Atlantic i flight will bo attempted as soon as the weather is suitable. I Major-General J. E. B. Seely, Under-Secretary to the Air Depart-, ment, speaking in the House of Commons on the adoption of the air vote of £45,000,000, announced many aviation novelties. A new seaplane has five engines and carries five tons at 100 miles an hour. The Department is experimenting with machines of eight engines, carrying eight tons. Other novel machines will possess unprecedented properties and unparalleled speed, while new types of commercial flying boats for the great rivers are under trial. Wireless inventions for piloting machines in fogs and bad weather havo proved successful, and will probably solve many difficulties of long distance flight. The whole resources of the Air Force will 'be available to assist civilian aviation.
