REPATRIATION SCHEME.

DIRECTOR VISITING AUCKLAND.

The work of organising the scheme to be carried on by the Repatriation Board is at present suspended, owing to the Ministers who form the board being absent fioni Wellington for the holidays.

Mr. J. It. Samso;* the, recently-ap-pointed director of repatriation, however, is taking advantage of the holidays to visit the various centres in New Zealand for the purpose of gathering information which may be of use to the board when it-he final details of the repatriation scheme are being considered. Mr. Samson arrived in Auckland by the Main Trunk express on Saturday morning, and conferred with Mr. R. E. Fonton, chairman of the Discharged Soldiers' Information Committee. Mr. Samson stated later that particulars of the repatriation scheme would probably be made public shortly after the New Year, but in the meantime the work of attending to the requirements of discharged soldiers would be carried on by the Discharged Soldiers' Information Department. Mr. Samson is making only a short stay in Auckland before going to Christchurch and Dunedin. He will meet the Ministers in Wellington early in the New Year.
