I NOTES AND COMMENTS. Stevenson recently conceded Claude Pal" kiner 2000 points. in 10,000, and won by 4001 points. Stevenson, who relied on the topof the table game, played brilliantly, making breaks of 724, 575. 561. 421. 377. 320. 308, 275. 256, 242, 241, 234, 229, 226. 224. and 218. Falkiner, who depended chiefly on "nursery cannons," made breaks of 3*58. 293, 261, 242, 239, 226 221, 219, 215, 214, and 211. Claude Falkiner has been in the publio view since his return from the front. He has played a series of games with A. Goimdrill, a one-armed ex-Hussar, who. notwithstanding bis disability, made breaks of over the-century. Falkiner conceded half the 'game as handicap, and won each game easily, making breaks of 298, 375, 600, 220, 430, 233. 2C, 311, 2SB, 311. 280. and 310. Tom Newman, home on leave from the front, played him a three days' match, but being out of practice was defeated easily. Falkiner then conceded W. Smith, a : veteran county player. 7500 points in 18,000, and won easily, with breaks of 345, 233, 337, and 547—in which he made a sequence of 135 nursery cannons." ':•.;,'•' ■~ Inman attempted to giro Carpenter, the Welsh champion, a start of. 600 points ill 1500, but lost by 132, point*.. _..■.•.'■: There is a movement in England to endeavour to reconcile the differences between the British-Billiard Association and the Billiards Control Club. The • forme* body, whose 'rules are complied witfl in New Zealand, is under amateur management, while the Control Club is run by. professionals. •' It is to bo hoped, in the interests of the game, that soma compromise will fuse these bodies. As the revision of the nils* will be involved, it might be desirable fo? the Now Zealand body to forward suggestions for the improvement of the game,
