APPALLING CONDITION OF MANY RETURNED MEN.

The first party of released prisoners of war, comprising 1300 members of the Naval Brigade, who were captured at Antwerp in the early stages of the war, were given an enthusiastic reception at Hull.. Half-a-million allied war prisoners have been released in Germany, and are expected to reach Holland in a few days. Many returning British prisoners show appalling emaciation, arousing great pity among those who witness their arrival.
The Prisoners of War Department has received news through the Dutch Legation at Berlin that the Soldiers' Council has taken charge of- Buhleben prison camp, and promised every facility in making the prisoners' lot as light a* possible. "They are all reported to be well.
