DISAFFECTION IN GERMANY I
SOLDIERS' WAR WEARINESS
DESPONDENCY WIDESPREAD.
Australian and N.Z. Cable Aijsociation (Reed.. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 20. Ludendorff, in a signed order, speaks of increased complaints from Germany. He-states that men on leave are creating an unfavourable impression by statements bordering on high treason, and inciting disobedience. Some of this is duo to the natural irritation of soldiers, who see things superficially. War weariness and despondency are unfortunately so widespread at homo. Ltfdendorff says that officers should carefully explain to the soldiers that while travelling they see the surface only. The honest toil and severe struggle are not apparent. It seems, however, that some people are consciously adopting an attitude hostile to the State. He directs the home authorities to return immediately all such to tho front. (Reed. 5.5 p.m.) AMSTERDAM, Sept. 26. Owing to widely-circulated reports of demoralisation among Bavarian troops, the Kaiser telegraphed to the King of Bavaria, eulogising tho condition of the Bavarians he visited on the western front.
