DIVERSION OF SHIPPING.
<*, GOVERNMENT ACTION APPROVED. / [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] MASTERTON, Friday. The recent statement of the American Food Controller in regard to allied shipping was discussed at a meeting of ,tho Chamber of Commerce this afternoon, and the following resolution was carried: "That the chamber views with alarm the proposal to withdraw allied chips from the Australian and New Zealand trade, and learns with satisfaction that the Government is taking prompt action with the object of seeing that the proposal will not be given effect to unless it be found that the proposed diversion will have a greater war benefit than the leaving of the vessels on their presentservice."
