COMMONWEALTH LOAN. LAST OF KIND DURING THE WAR. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 10.40 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Aug. 12. The Federal Treasurer, Mr. W. A. Watt, announced to-day that the British Treasury had floated the recent' Commonwealth loan of, £4,760,000, with the proviso that it was the last of the kind the Commonwealth would seek to raise in London during the war. ' . NO NEW TAXATION. '■/ SYDNEY. Aug. 12. ' Mr. J. C. L. Fitzpatrick, , AssistantState Treasurer, in a speech to-day, said that no new taxation would be imposed this year.
