NEW CHORAL HALL.
THE OPENING CELEBRATED.
Ax enjoyable social gathering was held on Saturday night in the Auckland Choral Society's new hall in Alexandra Street, to celebrate its opening. The building, a brick one of two storeys, was formerly used as a boot factory, and, by taking out the first floor and erecting a stage, it has been admirably adapted for use as a rehearsal hall The building, which is on freehold property, cost £22:10, and has teen opened free of d&t. Mr. Charles Hudson, chairman, addressing the gathering, spoke of the record of the society during its 30 years existence, and said it was one of which members might be proud. Two purposes, ho said, had been served by the acquisition of the new property—first, the money received from Mr. Henry Brett on trust as the society's interest in the old Choral Hall had been expended in accordance with the terms on which it had been received, and secondly an adequate stage and rehearsal hall, and home for the society had been attained.
