SUBMARINES OFF AMERICA.
JAPANESE SHIP SUNK. A. and N.Z. NEW YORK, Aug. 7. Advices from a Canadian Atlantic port state that a Japanese freight ship was torpedoed off the coast. An American schooner rescued the crew. A lightship in North American waters was shelled and sunk. The crew is safe.
