CONSOLIDATION OF GAINS IN CAPTURE OF HAHEL.
PART OF RIDGE OVERLOOKING AMIENS ALSO TAKEN.
Australian and N.Z. (Received 11.10 cm.) LONDON. July 4. The Australians took 1500 prisoners during an attack on Hamel, and consolidated their positions.
The United Press states that Australians and others, supported by numerous tanks, captured Hamel and part of a wedge-shaped ridge overlooking Amiens.
Another operation on a 1200 yds front in the Morlancourt region, between the Ancre and the Somme, won a depth of 400 yds.
