On the northern edge of Clarepont Wood, south-east of Noyon, our machine-guns stopped two attacks. Other attempts in the region of Autreehes, three miles north of the Aigne. east of Dommiers. and in the direction of Corey, on the edge of the illiers (. otterets Forest, failed. Infantry action, supported by tanks, north of C orcy enabled us to improve our line on the edge of the forest. The Hermans south of the Ourcq violently attacked C'hezy-en-Orxois and to its south-east. We broke the attacks, inflicting serious losses. The artillery continued very active oil the banks of the Aisne and m the region of Rheims. An earlier report stated: -Faverolles, which the enemy attacked, was held by us, also Troesnes, on the edge of the Yilliers Cotterets forest. The tight was equally lively in the region south of the Ourcq. The enemy, supported by numerous artillery, directed his effort against Mosloy, V euilly la Poterie. Tun y, and Bouresehes, north-west of Chateau Thierry. A counter-attack enabled us to reeanture Mosloy. Fierce fighting occurred in the village of Veuilly la Poterie, which, after passing from hand to band, remained in the possession of the Hermans. American troops checked the advance of Herman forces trying to enter Veuilly Wood, and a magnificent counter attack threw them back north of thA wood. Farther south the enemy was unable to realise any gain on the Marne front. An enemy battalion which crossed to the left bank before Jaulgonnc was counter-attacked by French and American troops and dm back to the other bank, the enemy's pontoon being destroyed.
