Y.M.C.A. IN INDUSTRIAL LIFE.
ACTIVITIES IN AMERICA.
A lecture on the subject of "The Y.M.C.A. in the Industrial World," was given in the Y.M.C.A. building last evening „by Mr. 'E. Q. Brownell, general national secretary. Mr. Brownell, who illustrated his remarks with a number of lantern slides, made special reference to the work of the association in AmericaHo said the educational, social and religious work of the association had'increased exceedingly during recent years. In some of the large industrial centres in America schools for teaching motor-car constructions carpentering, etc., had been established, and it was satisfactory that some of the large American manufacturing firms were doing their utmost to assist in the work, especially by allowing the use of portions of their buildings and equipment, borne of the large railway corporations were notable in this respect. In country districts the Y.M.C.A. had established centres, with sub-centres round about, and had appointed men to travel about giving instruction to youths in agriculture .and encouraging them to take an active part in the life of the community. Mr. Brownell also spoke of the valuable work being done at summer schools, in the American army and navy, and said that emigrants to the country were especially looked after.
