DEATH AT THE GAOL.
PRISONER FOUND HANGED. A prisoner, Martin Brady, who was serving a sentence of seven years' imprisonment at Mount Eden gaol, was found hanging in his cell yesterday morning. Brady was last seen alive at 9 p.m. on Monday by the warder on duty. When the cell was unlocked yesterday he was found on the floor with his head through the running noose of one of i his hammock ropes, bin head being some inches off the floor. The medical officer said the man had been dead some hours.
Brady was sentenced at Timaru on May 29. 1916, on charges of breaking, entering, and theft, and as far as is known has no relatives.
A" inquest will be held this morning.
