MOUNT EDEN V. EDENDALE.

Mount Eden from the opening rally launched a solid attack from the right wing, the ball being taken in by Hendry and A. Alexander Emery saved from the midst of a scramble, and the ball went to half-way. « M lSed a ?- Ed ? dale rush along the whole held but slipped T , in the circle. Sparkes spoiled Mount Eden's efforts following a corner and enabled Monteith to make a fine line run, which produced a corner in Mount Men territory. A free hit relieved the pressure, and Alexander and Bartleet saved the situation, giving Paice a chance to score. £aice ran in . and scored easily for Mount .XT.? n ' ~M o" n t Wen . assumed the offensive and, after hard, hitting. Paice took a pass and scored again. Edendale concentrated their energies but could not enter the Mount Men twenty-five. Monteith and Hall started a counter-attack which was soon suppressed, Alexander putting in some fine work. Half-tune came with Mount Eden still attacking. At the change-over Mount Eden commenced another attack, but were penalised After some solid work. Ritchie hit to touch, but the forwards kept busy from the throw-in and Davis, beating J. Alexander, scored the first goal for Edendale. The remainder of the half was uneventful, no other score resulting. The scores wore: — Mount Eden . . o Edendale . . '. '. ' ' ' ' l I Messrs. R. H. Parton and R.' Bartleet were retereep UNIVERSITY V. ARETA. Areta began to attack shortly after the opening bully, but a breach was penalised and University went to the fore. Areta countered at their own twentv-five and sweeping down the left line, drove their opponents to the circle. Waddingham centred from a hit across, but the ball went out of play. From a free hit at University's twenty-five Areta drew play to the circle, but they failed to score. University attempted once more to break down the Areta defence, and for some time Areta were in an uncomfortable position. Presently Waddmgham scored the first goal for the students. After a. period of interesting play Westwood picked up the ball near half-way and beat the opposition, but was unable to score. Soon Garrard got the ball from a series of passes and scored the second goal for University. Areta commenced an offensive, and some interesting plav resulted Waddingnam again scored for Universitv bv good hitting. Shortly afterwards York scored first for Areta. Areta kept, up the attack, but Garrard, seizing a lucky opening, scored for University. Areta still went on. and Westwood scored again The students attacked from 'he bully and Areta were hemmed in. but a. long hit cleared and sent the ball to the other end. Areta extricated themselves from an uncomfortable position about six minutes before time, and made a quick attack. Ycrk again scoring.
