FATAL ACCIDENTS.
YOUNG MAORI'S MISHAP* DIES FROM GUNSHOT WOUNDS. [BY TELEGRAPH- OWN CORRESPONDENT. J 3LAITAIA, Friday. A Maori youth about 18 years of age named Norman Hunter met -with a fatal accident yesterday. He had been out shooting, and on returning called at Mrs. Petersen's house and had tea. Immediately after he left the house a gunshot was heard, and Hunter called out. The family hurried out. and found Hunter lying on the ground. He said to Mrs. Petersen, "I'm shot," and expired. At an inquest to-day a verdict that Hunter met his death by a gunshot wound, the evidence pointing to the gun being discharged accidentally by Hunter himself, was returned. DEATH FOLLOWS INJURIES, RESULT OF MOTOR COLLISION. 9 [BY TELEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.] PALMERSTON NORTH, Friday. The man, Frederick Capp, who was injured in a motor collision at Kairanga last Friday, died in Palmerston. North Hospital this morning. FARMER'S NECK BROKEN. TRAP BACKED OYER BANK. [BY telegraph—press ASSOCIATION.] BLENHEIM. Friday. While a farmer named J. R. Johnston, of Netherwood, was driving home in his trap the horse backed over a bank. Johnston sustained a broken neck.
