HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES FINANCE BILL PASSED. [by telegraph.— muss association.] WELLINGTON, Sunday. The House of Representatives met at 11.30 a.m. yesterday, and went into Committee on the Finance Bill. All the clauses up to nine were passed practically without discussion, and the House adjourned at 1 p.m., and resumed at 2 p.m. Clauso 14, providing for the exemption of investments in the War Loan from income tax, caused considerable discussion, but was carried by 40 votes to 18. Amendments to other clauses on the lines already indicated by the Minister for Finance were made. The Houso rose at 5.30 p.m., and resumed at 7 p.m., when the Bill was read a third time and passed. The Expiring Laws Continuance Bill was introduced, and was put through all stages without discussion. Mr. Massey moved that Standi! g Order No. 403 bo suspended, so far as to allow all local Bills introduced during tho present session to be proceeded with next session from tho stage they have reached this session, without being again advertised. Tho motion was agreed to. The following Bills were introduced and read a first time:—Taiiranga Borough Council and Tauranga Harbour Board Empowering Bill (Hon. W. H. Hemes); Uawa County Bill (Hon. W. D. S. MacDonald); Maori War Medal Bill (Mr. It A. Wright); Invercargill Borough Council Special Rate Empowering Bill (Hon. J. A. Hanan). After tho transaction of some formal business, the Houso rose at 10.25 p.m. until 11 a.m. on Monday.
