AMERICAN NAVAL BASE.

SITE ON THE AZORES, GUARDING TRADE ROUTES. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (R«cd. 15.8 p.m.) LONDON. April 11. The allies have consented to the United States establishing a naval baso at the Azoms Islands. United Statos destroyers and submarines will operate from the baso there arid it will also servo as a homing station for aeroplanes. Tho Portuguese Government is co-operating cordially. The base will protect the trade routes to South America as well as the Mexican Gulf ports.
