RED CROSS ACTIVITIES.
». NEED FOR FURTHER FUNDS. A cheque for £67 has been received by the Mayor from the manager of the Union Steam Ship Company, that amount having ; been collected on one of the company's '.vetsels during a recent trip to Auckland, in aid of the local Red Cross Fund. I In respect to Red Cross work, Mr. Gun--1 son stated yesterday that there was urgent need for the maintenance of subscriptions in the Auckland district. The local Joint Committee had remitted to London prac- 1 tically the whole of the credit balances, therefore, to enable the centre to continue its remittances, the support of the citizens generally was necessary. Mr. Gunson said •the honorary financial organiser for the committee, Mr. C. F. Bickford, was in th-3 East Coast district organising the various centres., Subsequently Mr. Bickford would pay similar visits to other district!, and provide them with full information cf the operations of the committee 'in Auckland? He was also emphasising the urger fc need for unflagging support for what wa>i undoubtedly the most important voluntary organisation in connection with the war."
