NORTH AUCKLAND DISTRICT.

VAST POSSIBILITIES.

Members 'of the Auckland Education Board, who recently visited the North Auckland district, have returned with a very keen sense of the vast possibilities of the northern peninsula. Those of {he party who had previously known this country were impressed by the improvements visible everywhere, large tracts of country which had formerly been in bush and fern having now been' cleared and sown in grass. In some of the districts visited the party, found the roads quite good, but they were unanimously of the opinion that the urgent need of tno North was roads. One member of the party with an intimate knowledge of the peninsula said that while the projected railway through North Auckland would open up the heart of the country, it was apparent that even. now a great roading scheme should be undertaken, so that settlers, when the railway reaches their locality, will be able to take full advantage of it. Tile members of the party said they realised more fully than ever before the productivity of the immense area through which they had been travelling, and they were of the opinion that Auckland, as the natural outlet of this country, must expand very greatly during the next few years and ultimately become a very large city.
