SWIMMING.

PONSONBY SCHOOLS' SPORTS. The annual swimming snorts under the auspices of tho Ponsonby Primary Schools were held in th Shelly Beach Baths, Poasonby. There was a large attendance of relatives and friends of tho scholars. Weather conditions were favourable. The various events were well contested, Tho Blakev Cud. for boys under 10 years of age, i was won by B. Shanly, a pupil of the Bayfield school. The 100 yds championship for bovs of tho three Ponsonby schools, was won bv Edwards, of Ponsonby school, with Gilford, of Bayfield, a close second. Miss Edna Walrond, Bister of tho New Zealand champion schoolgirl swimmer, won the girls' open championship of 60yds. During tho snorts an exhibition of fancy swimming was Riven bv Professor D. B. Anderson. Bayfield school gained an aggregate of 39 points against Ponsonby 's 35. The results are: —
