OBITUARY.
THE REV. H. M. BUTLER. A. and N.Z. LONDON. Jan. 15. The death has occurred of tho Rev. Henry Montagu Butler, master of Trinity College, Cambridge, since 1886. The Rev. Henry Montagu Butler was in his 85th year. Ho was educated at Harrow and Trinity College, Cambridge, being awarded a fellowship in 1855. Ho was headmaster of Harrow from 1859 to 1885; Honorary Chaplain to tho Queen, 1875-77 Chaplain in Ordinary, 1877-85; select preacher at both Oxford and Cambridge many times between 1877 and 1913; Prebendary of Holborn in St. Paul's Cathedral, 1882-85; Canon of Ely, 1897; Dean of Gloucester, 1885-86. He won many distinctions as a. classical scholar, and was tho author of numerous works upon theological and classical subjects, besides several volumes of sermons.
