Replying to Dr. Thacker (Christchurch East), Mr. Hcrdman said it was not • possible to escape, tho necessity of issuing permits to. foreigners to work on waterfronts. Many of them belonged to allied countries. '•■
•Replying to Mr. G. J. Anderson, tho Hon. W. D. S. Mac Donald said that the. Imperial Government declined to purchase New Zealand rabbits at 20s per crate, but had offered 18s. ' Tim offer had not'been accepted, and the Imperial Government had declined to go any further with the transaction, preferring to 'purchase other foodstuffs, as the price asked for rabbits was too high. ~ ' ..V ..'.'•':..:. The War Loan Purposes Bill, No. 2, was put through all its stages and parsed. The House rose at 11.20 p.m.
