lE. LLOYD GEORGE'S INSPIRING MESSAGE TO ARMIES
GREAT ACHIEVEMENTS UNDER ADVERSE CONDITIONS. Australian and N.Z. and Router, (Reed. 7.55 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 16.
The Press Bureau announces that the Premier, Mr. Lloyd George, has sent the following message to Sir Douglas Haig:—"The War Cabinet desires to congratulate your troops upon the achievements of the armies in Flanders in the great battle which has raged sinco July 3! Starting from positions in which every advantage rested with the enemy, and hampered by the most unfavourable weather, you and your men nevertheless have continuously driven the enemy back with a skill, courage and pertinacity which is commanding the grateful admiration of the peoples of the Empire, and filling the enemy with alarm. I desire to renew my personal assurance of confidence in your leadership and in the devotion of thoso you command."
