SEASON'S WOOL CLIP.

■■■ " IMPERIAL PURCHASE. , e REAPPOINTMENT OF VALUERS. The regulations governing the disposal of this season's wool, which are now circulated, are the same- as those of last year, with minor alterations that experience has proved to be necessary to facilitate the handling of the clip. One of the most important regulations is that relating to the branding of the wool by the growers. It provides that all wool forwarded to brokers' stores shall bear the'brand of the grower on one- end and one flat side of each bale in letters and figures of not loss than three inches in height. Where bales are not properly branded it is provided that, the brokers 'shall brand them, and be at liberty to charge a reasonable price to the vendor for so doing. 'Mr. A. W. Perkins, of Dalgety's, Ltd., stated yesterday that last season considerable trouble was caused through the faulty branding of, bales by the farmers, and it was highly desirable that a uniform ovstern should be adopted. In respect to the regulations generally, ho said the additional provisions were in the right direction. A new feature was that the Controller of Imperial Government Supplies could license persons to purchase wool I in small quantities for subsequent sale tp the Government. The idea was that where a few scattered bags were to be picked up in the country, a dealer could do so, but his purchase "from one person was limited to two bales. The whole business was now under thfl control of the Department of Imperial Government Supplies, while last season the Requisitions Committee rendered valuable assistance in the disposal of the wool. In respect to valuations, Mr. Perkins said no alteration had been made, and general satisfaction was expressed at the reappointment of last season's valuers, Messrs. F. Myers, W. Oxley. S. Jowitt, and W. Robertson. A non-buyer had been appointed to deal with appeals which were on the 9ame basis as last year. In the event of an appeal, an amount equal to 2s 6d a bale up to 100 bales, with a minimum of £2, had to be lodged by _ the appellant. If the appeal were decided against the vendor the deposit would be forfeited to the Government. If the appeal were upheld the deposit would, of course, be returned. The new season's clip, which includes all ■wool received in the stores from October 1, is starting to come in, and there are already a few hundred bales to hand. A | considerable quantity is expected to arrive J next week, when the valuations for the j current season will commence. I , I
