COASTAL VESSEL DELAYED.
1 * ' DECK HANDS LEAVE STEAMER. The Richardson steamer Awahou, which was timed to sail for the East Coast bays | at 10 p.m. yesterday, was unable to leave, i owing to shortage of a crew. The vessel arrived from the East Coast on Sunday, and berthed at the King's Wharf. On Monday the deck hands—three able-bodied and an ordinary seaman—gave the captain 2-1 hours' notice. They did not give any reason for their action. The local agent advertised for seamen to fill their places, but so far without result. The vessel completed loading yesterday Afternoon, and is to sail as soon as the required number of men axe obtained. The Awahou, which is a Wellington vessel, although sailing out of Auckland, was put on the trade in place of the Kahu, which had become too small for the trade ; The crew transferred to her from the Kahu in Wellington some months ago. She is one of the vessels which have only I one seaman on watch at sea,
