SUBMARINE MINE FOUND OFF VICTORIAN COAST.

DISCOVERED BY PATROL ■ NEAR GABO ISLAND. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. MELBOURNE, Oct. 13. The Minister for the Navy, Mr. Joseph Cook, officially announces that mine-sweepers from Sydney exploded a submarine mine of enemy origin off Gabo Island, on the Victorian coast, on Wednesday. Gabo Island is a small island off the coast of Victoria, a few miles west of Cape Howe. The steamer Cumberland was in the vicinity of this island when the explosion occurred which resulted in her destruction.
