RAILWAY ECONOMIES.
EFFECT IN THE NORTH. [BT telegraph.—special correspondent.] "WELLINGTON. Wednesday. The Minister for Railways., in reply to' Mr. V. H. Reed (Bay 0 Islands), slated I to-day that the running of the Kaikohe-' Kawakawa Wednesday afternoon train was suspended owing to the fact that there was insufficient business offering to warrant its continuance. The direct effect of the suspension of the train had been to reduce the hours of overtime that ™„ r * l,Way , Sta Wa? P rev, *™% called upon to work In view of the necessity for economy in crery direction, the Minister regretted he was unable to agree to the restatement of the Wednesday train at present, nor could he see his wav to agree to the substitution of a train on' Iriday afternoon in lieu of it. .
