SALE OF NATIVE LANDS.
PURCHASED BY FOREIGNERS.
COMPLAINT BY MR. Y. H. REED
[BY TELEGRAPH— CORRESPONDENT.]
WELLINGTON, Tuesday. A demand that the Government should as soon as possible purchase native lands, or prevent their being purchased by other persons, was made by Mr. V. H. Reed (Bay of Islands) in the House of Representatives to-day. " Native lands," he said, " are being purchased in the North of Auckland by persons who are refused for military service because of their nationality and their sympathies. They are securing the land because at this time there are no competitors." A Voice: Shame.
Mr. Reed: It is a shame that these men should be allowed to buv land while our men are away at the front. (Hear hear The land is actually on the route of the North Auckland railway.
