THE OVERSEAS ARMY. ENLISTMENTS AND WASTAGE. A. and N.Z. ■ Cable. MELBOURNE. July 4.During an appeal for recruits, Mr. G. F. Pearce, Minister for Defence, said the total casualties in the Australian army were: Bailed, 26,100; wounded, who have not returned to the front, 36,940; sick, 26,000; missing, 5208; prisoners of war, 1200; unknown casualties, 246. Altogether 366,523 men had enlisted. VICTORIAN PARLIAMENT. NO-CONFIDENCE MOTION. MELBOURNE. July The Victorian Parliament reassembled yesterday. Mr. Elmslie, Leader of tha Opposition, moved a no-confidence motion in the Government. RAILWAY CONSTRUCTION. (Received 9.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, July 4. The Government has decided to stop the construction of the city railway and to use ail loan money available for the Railway Department for the construction of rolling stock, for duplications, and for the completion of revenue-producing lines. £3000 FOR FRANCE'S DAY FUND (Received 9.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, July i. High prices were paid at the sheep sales to-day for Tasmanian Merinos. The top prices were: Canonbar ram, 400gns; Deniliquin ram, 370gns. A Boonoke ram brought £3000 on behalf of the France's Day Fund.
