On Wednesday at our weekly Westfield fat stock market we penned fat cattle to the number of 250 head, comprising 143 steers, 106 cows and heifers, and 1 bull. The steer department included several lines of prime cattle. Competition was keener than at late sales, with a further advance in values. Choice ox sold to £2 103 per 1001b, prime £2 7s to £2 9s, plain and rough £1 18s to £2 os; cows and heifers, £2 3s to £2 7s per XOOlb; steers ranged in price from £13 10s to £25. for a nice quality steer from Lyons Estate, Maungatawhiri Valley; cows and heifers. £8 15s to £19 7a 6d. This latter figure was also realised by Lyons Estate. The highest averages for steers were Four from Lyons Estate, Maungatawhiri. £21 143 4d; three extra good cows, from same vendor, £18 0s lOd; 21 from Mr. T. B.
