NORTHERN LINE FREED FROM GERMAN DOMINATION* TANKS AGAIN CONTRIBUTE TO SUCCESS OF OPERATIONS. Australian and N.Z. Cable.' (Received 7.15 p.m.) LONDON, June 7, A correspondent of the American United Press states that British infantry attacked this morning on a front of 12 miles, between the Ypres salient and Armentieres. Already they have wrested from the Germans Messines Ridge, dominating the whole north end of the line. The Germans have held Messines since October, 1914. The British are now in possession of the town. Many tanks were used with great success. The British have also taken Battle Wood, south of Zillebeke, Enfer Wood, between Messines and Wytschaete, and other farms and villages. They are still advancing. Prisoners state they never before experienced anything like the British artillery.
