WELLINGTON. Thursday. The Defenco Department notifies the death of Private David Flett. D Company, twenty-eighth reinforcements, which occurred at Featherston Military Hospital to-day,

TROOPER C. D. MuLEOD. Trooper Colin D. McLeod, whose death has been reported, was the fifth son of Mr*. W. McLeod. of North River, Waipu. Leaving New Zealand in April, 1915, as a trooper in the North Auckland Mounted Rifles, he served in the Dardanelles operations, and, after the evacuation, in Egypt. He was taken prisoner by the Turks, on August 4, 1916, and later reports from him stated that he was suffering from fever. To this he succumbed on January 4 last. PRIVATE W. R. AHIER. Private W. R. Ahier, killed in action on Slay 6, was the youngest son of Mr. G k. Ahier, of Te Awamutu. Private Ahier, who was 23 years of age, had for some months prior to his death been in the firing-line. He was educated at the Hamilton High School, and afterwards at the Auckland Grammar School and the Auckland Technical College. He followed school-teaching as his profession, and at the time of enlisting had charge of the Ranginui and Tokanni schools. Private Ahier's elder brother, Norman, left with the main body, and after seeing two years' service was invalided home and discharged.
